The truth about Spirituality

I happened to speak to a fellow this afternoon who said I want to learn meditation but want to stay distant from Spirituality.

In fact there are many who are in the similar mindset as for them the definition of spirituality is confined to certain ritualistic practices performed by their Indriyas, mind and the body. And for obvious reason, such incorrect practice on the name of spirituality leads to wastage of time and is the cause of creating a false image about spirituality.

I am a devotee of Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj who revived the science of consciousness and named it Vihangam Yoga. In next few paragraphs, I will try my best to express my heart out about the truth of spirituality.

WHAT IS SPIRITUALITY?
Spirituality is the answer to the pursuit of peace and bliss. A truely successful person is the one who have attained the everlasting peace and bliss in life. This is where materialism fails and spirituality takes over. Spirituality as the name suggest is something related to spirit. "Atmanam Adhi iti Adhyatma" -  To experince Adhyatma (spirituality), one needs to rise beyond the experience of the Soul.  It is a subject of consciousness. Mind, speech and Indriyas fail short of attaining the spiritual experience. Before we go on talking about experience, we must get very clear understanding about the term EXPERIENCE.

what is an experience?

Imagine, you read an article about a visual object but do not get to see it ever. Reading an article may lead your mind to imagine about the object but will fail short of giving you true realization. The visual object can be truely experienced with your eyes when you get to see the object itself. After looking at the object, you acquire an expressible experience. Now you need not read an article on the visual appearance of the object but the soul directly acquires the experience about the object the moment mind connects the object to the soul through eyes. Hence experience is the subject of soul which registers itself in the consciousness of the soul as knowledge. Therefore, experience and knowledge come together.

Spirituality without experience of soul is not possible

Now imagine, if the spirit itself is not experienced by one, how can one claim to be practising spirituality. Does one have knowledge and experience about the conscious self first? If not then one needs to seek the path to realize the self first before making an entry into the inner journey of spirituality.

We are a conscious entity. We are each an individual soul. Any conscious entity cannot be attained by inert means. When we look at ourselves, we definitely realize that our domain of experience is confined to the five sensory organs. Beyond the five senses, the subject of consciousness is totally untouched by us. This is where Spirituality comes into picture.

Spirituality is about making an entry into the space of consciousness. This unfolds our hidden power to attain the experience of various conscious entities. There are four types of conscious entities which are the prime subjects of spirituality:

1. Infinite number of individual souls like you and me
2. One Lord who is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent
3. One Eternal Sadguru who is the divine master carrying the secret technique of BrahmaVidya
4. One Akshar Brahma who is the cosmic executor- the cause of creation and devastation of the universe.

Our true seeking is of peaceful happiness - The bliss that brings along the ever lasting peace and satisfaction in life.

Where is the source of bliss?
We all seek that in material luxury, money, fame, etc. I personally also want to earn lot of money and luxury in life. However, with Sadguru's mercy, I have complete understanding that the prosperty that I am seeking in my career is all to equip myself better to render my service to Sadgurudeo.
The world too offers happiness - no doubt but they are so limited that they last just fraction of time. And frankly speaking, the happiness that we perceive in the world is a relative term. It is just the absence of sorrow. The world truly have no source of bliss. We are so much surrounded with problems in life that being free from sorrow itself momentarily makes us believe to have acquired happiness. Hence the most we can do with our indriyas and mind is to stay away from sorrow which is equally important in order to rise in the spirituality without hassle.
The true peace and bliss is not in the matter.  It is in the abode of supremely conscious and infinitely blissful form of supreme being.  Hence we must devote an adequate amount of time in achieving the prime goal of human life i.e. to continue on in the inner journey heading straight to the abode of bliss.

Developing an ability to embark on the most important journey - the journey into our inner self is the parameter of success in life. I count myself successful every moment I am in Seva, Sadhna and Satsang with Sadgurudeo. My soul smiles from within and I feel it. May Sadguru keep his blessings on one and all.
